“Community service is just not what we do . . . it is who we are!”
Welcome to the Tampa Alumnae Chapter website!
Sometimes our busy schedules get in the way, and we fail to consider the true meaning of the “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” to which we are all entitled. However, we must not become weary and complacent! We cannot leave our inalienable rights in the hands of someone else!
Our 22 founders took action when they marched into history on March 3, 1913, in the Woman Suffrage Parade in Washington, D.C. They kept social action, equality, and justice at the forefront of all they undertook. The Tampa Alumnae Chapter continues on the path paved by our visionary founders. We strive to serve our community through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, with emphasis on social action and community partnerships.
Here is a glimpse of our community involvement and impact wherein we:
Provide academic enrichment and life skillsets to our youth programs (GEMS, Delta Academy, & EMBODI);
Assure our voices are heard during Delta Days at the State Capital (Tallahassee) and Delta Day at the County Commission (Hillsborough);
Bring awareness to mental health through our Physical and Mental Health Expressions of Determination, Strength and Triumph Spoken Word Event;
Provide financial assistance to students who are college bound through our signature Jabberwock and Queen of Hearts scholarship events.
In today’s climate, it is essential that Tampa Alumnae continues to focus on making a positive difference in the community by making things happen rather than waiting until things happen to us. We know that we cannot do this alone, and we appreciate all who have supported us and all who will in the future.
Thank you for visiting our website. Come back periodically and see the great things the Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues to do in the name of social action and service.
